SPRING, SCHOOL AND EARTH HOUR!

Our  flowers are blooming and bringing bursts of colour to the garden.

Hi, and Happy Spring Equinox! Today is officially the first day of Spring- a time for growth, renewal and hope. As we reach the mark of a year since the beginning of this pandemic, this will be a Spring like no other!

Even in the most urban places, signs of Spring are in abundance: dainty, sun-yellow Lesser Celandines cluster around concreted-in trees at my school; Magpies squawk and tussle in the heap of sticks that forms their nest; and yesterday I was awoken for the first time in many months by the trilling of a blackbird.

Last week I returned to school. I have been so busy and although it was amazing to see my friends again, I was exhausted! The weekend has offered a time to reflect, watch our garden birds and catch up on the sleep I definitely need. Now I am full of energy again, and have spent this equinox cooking, doing some craftivism (see below) and planting some wildflowers for the coming months!

About craftivism- it is a form of activism where you use craft to protest in a peaceful fashion. In a week it will be Earth Hour (created by the WWF, where you turn off your lights from 8.30-9.30 pm); so I have sewn a mini-banner encouraging people to take part. It is so simple and a wonderful excuse to read by candlelight!

Please take part and let me know if you see any signs of Spring that you would like to share. Bye! 🍃🍃🌹🌹🌳🌳
