Hi! So... I am in isolation. In the middle of the day a teacher came in and sent us all home. So here I am. As I write this, I have to keep flicking back to Teams to see if my online lesson is starting. Nope, not yet. Anyway, Today's post is all about books... and the lesson has started. Oh well. I'll be back soon to finish writing.
Right. I'm back, and today's post is all about great books. But not just any books....books about climate change and the environment! Here are my top 4:
1. Diary of a young naturalist by Dara McAnulty Dara is a 16 year old boy with autism who writes passionately about his love for the environment. The book is a diary lasting a year and it is also available as an audiobook or an ebook. I loved this book, especially as you can dip in and out of it whenever you feel like it, since it doesn't follow a plot,
2. How bad are bananas? By Mike Berners-Lee This book is not a story, it's a guide to your carbon footprint. As well as clear explanations as to the issues, this book can tell you the carbon footprint of almost everything and therefore is infinitely useful. I have used it many times to work out what type of fruit has the least impact on the environment, for example.
3. Urban Birder by David Lindo This book is necessary for any keen birder living in a city. Our cities, even London, are home to some amazing and rare wildlife and this book is all you need to begin noticing birds wherever you go.
4. No one is too small to make a difference by Greta Thunberg Yes, this is it. The ultimate book, containing almost all of Greta's speeches. It is small, pocket-sized and full of information and inspiration.
I hope you enjoyed this selection, Merry Christmas!
