A RECYCLING TIP

Hi! Sorry I haven't written for a while: I've been busy with school and getting used to homework again. but don't fear- I've got lots of ideas for the next few weeks, including some Black History Month specials!

Today I have a very simple tip to help you have better recycling. All you need is a jar/ pot and the usual things you put in your recycling!

First: the science. I don't know if any of you have ever been to a recycling centre (I went once on a  school trip) but its where your rubbish gets sent by the people who collect it. Anyway, to separate out what can be recycled and what can't, the rubbish goes round a conveyor belt with bars along it. The bars have varying gaps in between them. Small pieces of plastic and plastic bags fall through the bars; whereas things that can be recycled, such as large pieces of cardboard, float over.

But there's one problem: small metals like little pieces of foil etc, can slip through the gaps and miss getting recycled!

So all you have to do to prevent this is put any metal that might fall through into a jar, then when there's enough, wrap it all up in a big piece of foil into a ball and recycle.

See? Simple!
